MSNBC: Clinton is “Skanky”

Over the course of the Democratic primary season, MSNBC has on a number of occasions drawn the ire of Sen. Hillary Clinton. A new gaffe that occured during today’s around-the-clock political coverage is sure to ignite new flames.

Host Norah O’Donnell turned the audience’s attention to Clinton’s repeated calls for a 22nd debate with Sen. Barack Obama. She then showed a video clip in which Clinton said: “We could even do it on the back of a flatbed truck, doesn’t even have to be in some fancy studio somewhere.”

In the transition between the clip and the commentary, an unknown culprit uttered the word “skanky.” Oh no he/she didn’t! We give you Skanky-gate. See the video after the jump.

Update: The Politico’s Michael Calderone offers an explanation for Skanky-gate. First he confirms that guest commentator A.B. Stoddard of “The Hill” was the person who said “skanky.” When reached by phone, Stoddard gave Calderone her alibi:

Stoddard, reached by phone after this item initially ran, said that in no way did she use the word “skanky” to refer to Clinton–even though it directly follows the clip.

According to Stoddard, MSNBC had a clip in the monitor relating to the Vanity Fair photo scandal, where a risque shot of Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana) is running in the magazine’s latest issue. Cyrus has said that the photos weren’t meant in a “skanky” way, and the word appeared on the screen.

“Skanky is not in my vocabularly,” Stoddard told me.

Nevertheless, Stoddard began laughing as O’Donnell played the Clinton clip, and tried to let the anchor know the reason why she couldn’t stop. Unfortunately for Stoddard, she uttered the word “skanky” with her mic on, just as the camera cut back.

Stoddard added that there was supposed to be a response from Obama after Clinton’s “flatbed truck” comment.

I don’t entirely buy the explanation Stoddard has given. The word “skanky” was displayed on screen during the coverage of the Miley Cyrus story but only for a matter of 5-6 seconds and a solid few minutes before Stoddard was introduced. There was also a small segment about the tax rebate prior to the clip of Clinton’s debate offer.

That Stoddard thought a video of Obama was to be played when she said “skanky” seems equally suspicious. Regardless, her little mishap was entertaining.

    I agree wholeheartedly. Msnbc is beyond reproach, add this stupid “avi” woman, or whatever her name is to the long line of talking heads with no tact or intelligence.

    didn’t notice the skanky remark first time around. But did notice the phonier then thou Hillary’s southern drawl about the back of a flatbed truck.

    Has anybody else noticed that where every she goes, Hillary adopts a phony regional or ethnic accent. Remember when she was in South Carolina speaking to a black audience? I get embarrassed just watching when she does that stuff.

    If you want to know what skanky is, just ask Bill. He has done every willing skank in Arkansas and Washington DC, and assaulted a bunch of unwilling unskanky women as well. And Skanky Hildebeast attacked the character of the non-willing women that Bill sexually assaulted. Yep, those Clintons know skank inside out.

    Outrage? Um, because Hillary knows nothing about character assassination. Why is it called character assassination when it’s against Hillary and “the nature of politics” when it’s Clinton’s feeble attempt to bad mouth Obama? Ultimately, it’s called karma!

    Come on, even you HRC supporters have to admit the irony of a millionairess wanting to debate her primary opponent on the back of a flat bed truck (said with an affected southern accent). I’m giggling now. Even the newsies aren’t immune to the silliness of the campaign season. Skanky, heeheeheee. I have to stop.

    It was AB Stoddard who said it, not an MSNBC employee. She was referring to pics of Miley Cyrus that MSNBC had up on a monitor and was not expecting them to cut to her so quickly. Way to bash MSNBC before you know what the hell actually happened. It was obvious it was Stoddard from the beginning.

    come on all you hillary haters. how hipacritical can you be. ? if that comment was said about your precious obama or higher than thou mccain, you would be up in arms. but because it is hillary clinton you just snicker and make comments that stain your own characters. when you say things that are are so hippicritical as the “skank” remarks it makes me think about all the bullies in school. they pick on every one the other kids to make themselves look better. you are doing exactly the same think to make your candidates look better,. stand tall on your bully pullpit and let america hear just how little you really are. !!!

    Let’s get to the REAL issue here. Who the heck is tailoring Hillary’s clothes??! Her hips are so wide-looking, she could’ve ended the Cold War instantly by facesitting on the entire country of the U.S.S.R with one squat, summarily squashing their entire military force and nuclear arsenal in one fell swoop.
